News That's Fit To Print

I do not know about you but I am sick of hearing about Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears this week. Anna Nicole Smith has been dead for over a week. Nevertheless, the news is still all over it. How did she die? Was she murdered? Where will she be buried? Who fathered her child? WHO CARES!!! Then there is Britney Spears… Britney is in rehab. Britney left rehab. Britney drank Red Bull, shaved her head, got a tattoo and had a few too many. Britney is in rehab again. I do not even care.

Here are three news stories I found that should have gotten more coverage.

Military Families Warned of Bogus Bank E-Mail

This seems like the kind of thing that should be heavily broadcast, especially here and in other heavy military communities. Military families have enough to deal with without having to deal with this too.

Oscar Mayer Ready-To-Eat Chicken Recalled

Anything involving food (or anything else) being recalled for safety, should be publicized more so that consumers can take steps needed to ensure that they do not come to harm. We had peanut butter last week that had been recalled and the only way I noticed was a small sign in the Albertsons near the peanut butter. And the recall had been ongoing for 3 days before I found out.

Prince Harry To Be Deployed To Iraq

Okay, so I am not a big fan of celebrity news, but this guy is a prince of England; a long standing line of rulers and people who shaped not only Great Britain, but the majority of the people who went on to form this country. Let us not forget, these United States were started by British colonies. Now, here, this young man from such a rich tradition is willing to sacrifice himself for his country. He and all other military members should be considered heroes for this act. (However, I would like to mention that not all military members act like heroes…)
