Social Ties

I am a fan of social networking… to a point. I don’t have a million accounts. Mostly I have this blog. And that is cool for me. I also enjoy Twitter. It’s like a mini blog. But let’s get into the point of this story…

Facebook.

Okay, I have a Facebook account, but in reality, unless someone sends me a message, I hardly go to Facebook. My Twitter automatically updates my Facebook status. My blog automatically updates my Facebook page. Sometimes, if I get on and remember, I add pictures. But if not for Facebook…

-I wouldn’t have connected with some old friends. Because of this, I have been out of the house more often. I have had friends over here and been out to theirs. I learned to play Bunco. I played trivia with a bunch of them just this past weekend.

-I can connect with a great person I met at training in Georgia. It’s nice to know someone else that does the same job.

-I have another way of chatting up my internet friends… From the blogging community or from my online book group.

-I hear from relatives I never saw before.

In reality, I think it’s a good thing in moderation. I just realized even my mom has a Facebook. She didn’t strike me as a Facebook user. I wonder what she has on her page. Do you think she’s a Farmer in Farmville? HA HA! Even my Grandma is a Facebook user.

I don’t use any other social media platforms. I don’t My Space, My Life, or anything else similar. Just Facebook. And everything else goes automatically to it. Carolynn has Facebook, but being grounded, don’t expect any updates.

So what do you use? Do you have a preference? Do you play Facebook games? Do you think all computers should be turned off?

Anyway, thank you Facebook for finding me some friends. If not for them, this place might get a bit lonely. Not for long…

Because I forgot to mention…

And this is the best and most important part of this random, stupid post (that I am just rambling through because it is for NaBloPoMo)…

This April…

A certain family that I love…

That currently lives in North Carolina…

IS MOVING TO CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!

And that is all that matters!

Clarifications

Apparently, the previous post confused some of you. Let me clear it up.

The people in those pictures are The Spinuzzi Family. I am in fact a Spinuzzi. My brother Joe is also a Spinuzzi. My mom and dad are DeBar’s. So is my sister Sarah. My Grandpa is a Zibell. He is my mom’s father.

If you followed all that, you may have figured that my dad (married to my mom) is in reality, my step dad and my sister Sarah, is my half sister. However, I do not think of them like that at all, usually just refer to them as my Dad and my sister, and intend to continue.

I have not had much contact with my Spinuzzi relatives since I was little, though I have memories of them from that time. I have no ill will toward any of them. I simply do not know them. In the picture in the previous post, I recognize many of the faces but can name for sure only a few.

I simply borrowed those pictures from my cousin’s website that I found by accident. They have no date. They could very well be older pictures and Grandma may have gone to heaven since then. I am going to attempt to find out, however, like I said, I do not know these people.

My only contact with my Spinuzzi side is my half sister Nikki. She has the same father, but she has always lived with her mom and she does not seem familiar with them either. I have not seen her since she was about two, though we have e-mailed. Ironically enough, we found each other through MySpace, which I am still quitting.

I hope that covers all of your questions.

Christmas Dip

We are still looking for that Pixie dip. My uncle suggested Calico Dip from Calico Ghost Town might be similar. In addition, Knott’s Berry Farm has a few dip mixes and one might be similar. Excellent suggestions.

I have decided to quit MySpace. It just was not for me. I was not looking for long lost friends or relatives there and frankly, I am not sure I want any of that finding me. MySpace had too much teenage drama and bored housewives. Besides, I have this.

I was wondering, if I quit MySpace, could people still use the internet to track me down? Turned out, yes they can. Also, by googling myself, I found these.

Apparently, I am related to these people. I recognize a few of them. I have not seen any of them in years and years.

This picture is my Grandma on her 80th birthday. I did not even know she was still with us. I had thought she had passed on several years ago. The things you learn on the internet. (I would like to thank my cousin Brian for unknowingly allowing me to borrow these pictures from his website.)

This Is MY Space

I was thinking today that I know many people who use My Space to post pictures and such. However, I like this better. I have learned to do so much with this space since I first started my first one forever ago. Those of you who knew me then may recall that my first space was all one color, there were no pictures or anything. Just words. Most of them complaining about the weather in Wisconsin.

Now, several years later, here we have a fancy tropical design. We have words in many colors. We have pictures. We have video, both homemade and from other sites directly on ours. We have a running music video list on the side. We have various links. We have the Tropical Fruit Salad Trivia Challenge, though only about three people play, David and I being two of those people. We have our quiz from yesterday. All the time I am learning new things I can do with this.

Not that I really know a whole lot about My Space. I have only heard bad things about it though and the few I have seen were unimpressive. Therefore, I will stick with my current form. I hope you enjoy it.

Not too much exciting happening today. Yesterday I had the whole day off. I ran a bunch of errands. Today I am cleaning. I know, you just cannot stand the excitement. Tomorrow we are going to Disneyland so I will have many pictures. Today I have a picture of David in his PetsMart uniform.
