If you sit in the rain and wait patiently in hopes a car goes around the track, you are a true NASCAR fan.
I am not.
Yesterday we went to the California Speedway. We had a heck of an adventure. We got there and saw some cousins... first Janice and then Sherri. Then we got to take a little cruise around on a little cart and check out the back workings of the NASCAR experience. Then we went to check out the races.
First were the truck races. We were rooting for the pink one because it had a chick driver. I think she came in dead last.
Here we are watching the races.
This is what we looked like when the trucks came by us.
That's why I bought these.
Grandpa found the races so exciting he nodded off.
After the truck races we looked around a bit, but it started to rain. We never got to see any cars race. We did see them practice as little. We went to Fudruckers for lunch. It was good.
Today we could have gone back. Too rainy. So I am staying home and reading, watching TV and cleaning. It was an experience. But NASCAR is just not my kind of thing. I wonder if they even raced today because of the rain. Too bad if they didn't. A lot of people paid good money to see the race.
it is 4 at my house and nope, they still havent started to race yet. i was even going to watch for you when they were behind the scenes and in the crowd and stuff!
ReplyDeleteGood post it made Grandpa laugh. We could have worked in one of the stands then we would have made a little extra money. Janice was doing a lot of selling, people were snapping up T-shirts and ticket keepers, what ever they are called.
ReplyDeleteThey are going to try and get the race in today but it is going to start late and it is cold and wet. The thing about NASCAR racing is you can not chat with the folks around you. I like to talk to people, we have meet lots of folks at ball games, baseball, basketball, even football. You do not have to wear ear plugs or a radio set over your ears.
I think it would have been more fun to just work in the shop with Janice or in one of the other shops or something. Oh well, it was an adventure.
ReplyDeleteThe race just started this second. It looks crowded. Those are some die hard NASCAR fans.
Heather, I got a little souvenir for Ken. I will send it tomorrow. :)
Yep next time if you want to work one of the stands I am sure Shari could hook you up. I am not sure how they get paid.....I am sure it is with money but not sure how much. Janice does it all the time and she was busy in her little stand.
ReplyDeleteSee I wouldn't have cared about the big money making opportunity, just would have been fun selling NASCAR junk to rednecks, rubes, and hicks.
ReplyDeleteWell still extra money is always a plus. The rednecks, rubes, and hicks sat out in the cold rain until 11pm and then they called the race because of rain. They will have to race today. How funny the only race to go on time and to start and finsh was the one we saw. Well, we saw and grandpa nodded off during.
ReplyDeleteWell, all in all we did something we do not normally do we went to NASCAR we got to see Janice and Shari and we saw a truck race from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteI like that picture of you guys when the cars came by. It reminds me of the three monkeys see no evil hear no evil.......
Now those are pictures of true rednecks/hicks sitting at a place they don't belong! If you want to go someplace to talk, then just stay home, nascar isn't for the whimpy kind of people, it's the true sportsman sport! TRUE NASCAR FANS ARE REAL PEOPLE NOT PHONEY PEOPLE! The real NASCAR FANS should be the only ones allowed into the SPEEDWAYS, so stay away from our places if you cant handle the real sounds of excitement and mingle with real people!
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe a little on the redneck side… Especially after sitting in the sun. Hicks, probably not though. Maybe my mom a little. She listens to the country music. However, she was not in the picture.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, NASCAR is no place to talk. No one could not hear you anyway. NASCAR is not for wimpy people. It is loud, the cars go really fast, it crowded, sometimes it is hot. People brave the sun, the cold, and the rain to see it. I already said I am not a true NASCAR fan. I got wet, I went home.
However… There probably are NASCAR phonies. Probably NASCAR jerks too. Obviously, the writer of this post is one. We belonged there as much as anyone else. We were invited and we had tickets. Everyone should be free to experience whatever he or she wants. If I want to go to every NASCAR race forever, I will. I will not though. It is not my thing. However, I certainly did not say terrible things about people who are NASCAR fans. I just said I personally did not enjoy it. Moreover, if you had been reading, rather than just posting rude comments, you would have known that despite the fact that it was not our thing, we had a good time. Finally, I do not know that California Speedway is your place. I was under the impression that it belonged to San Bernardino County. And we handled all the excitement just fine.
One last comment I would like to make… either sign your posts or quit sending them. I know who you are anyways. I have a tracker. I thought you, of all people, would be happy we tried the NASCAR and that Grandpa was out trying new things. No one here said anything rude to you, or even about you as far as I know. I do not know why you would feel the need to interject such jerky comments.
Well, what the heck is wrong with that jerk? We were invited to the track, we got free passes and the VIP treatment, and we saw the cars and the truck race. We could have gone back but we did not want to, my dad watched part of it on TV yesterday and gave me the 411 when I got home. Shari was cool and happy to see that my dad is doing well, and said we should come to MI.
ReplyDeleteHelen is a huge NASCAR fan her son lives in North Carolina and works in the pits on one of the busch cars. She was excited that we got to go to the track and said "it is good for Jerry to get out". She has invited us to North Carolina, Todd knows several drivers. She is a true fan, and a redneck, and a hick to boot. She is also a good person that cares about others, not a selfish jerk that pretends to be a fan.
As for staying away from "thier places" I will go where ever I want, and we were invited to the track, and we were invited back too. I happen to know lots of people who love NASCAR and are not ass holes. I saw no sign saying ass holes only, so I will assume that the track is open to all.
I loved the picture, my dad had a good day, he is not a huge NASCAR fan but he enjoyed the day. Shari was so cool and she was so happy to see him, that is what it was about, not just cars going fast in a circle. You know if it were not for your web site some people would not see my dad at all. Talk about phoney! Selfish jerks that only care about themselves, well here is a heads up, no one likes you. No one cares what you have to say so I guess the noise of the cars works for you. People like you give rednecks, rubes and hicks a bad name.
Mom :)
If you feel the need to read a blog by "true NASCAR fans" here is one for you.

Oh yea that being said about jerks.......did you say I was a hick? I have been to see some pretty good concerts,Brooks and Dunn, Alan Jackson, and Garth Brooks. Sarah and I saw Tim Mcgraw and Brad Paisley and don't tell anyone but she liked them I have been to the grand ole oprey and so have you, so I guess I must be a hick.....lol. If the cowboy boot fits then wear the darn thing. Yee Haw
ReplyDeletenascar is about as much of a sport as bridge.
ReplyDeleteYep, I called you a hick. Whatcha gonna do about it?
ReplyDeleteI been to the Grand Ol' Opry too. It was another of our many adventures.

ReplyDeleteWell I have seen Poker on ESPN, that is about the only thing my dad doesn't watch. He watches golf, bowling, basketball, football, and of course baseball. The other day when I got up to go to work he was watching fishing at 6am.
