January?

Well, January is over. That was some ride. Carolynn ran a marathon. Catherine got glasses. My sister got married in secret. And today, the last day of the month, my Grandpa sold his mobile home. Good for him. That place was craptacular. (That’s a David word for you.)

Now we just have to get Grandpa all packed and moved out. It looks like February will be jam packed. This weekend is the Super Bowl. According to my polls it looks like most of you will be watching and all of you think the Patriots will win. The following weekend I am going to Pala with the old folks to see The Wallflowers and maybe win a little money. I am taking the Monday after that as vacation and that Friday the 15th I am taking off too so that will be two 3-day weekends in a row. Then at the end of the month, my mom and I are going with her cousins to see the NASCAR. All that and moving Grandpa. It is going to be a busy month.

  1. I don't really care for Alice Cooper, but it's too bad about those other songs.

Good luck with your busy month.

  2. Grandpa is busy packing up kitchen stuff for the newleywed's. I told Sarah she should get a storage so that when the movers come all their stuff is in one place. She will have stuff to start out with at least. Army guys do not make the big bucks so they will need to start budgeting. She is excited, they are young, and in love. She went to the base to pick up her ID card today. She says is going to get some cowboy boots and move to texas ya all.
We started getting the paper delivered last week, getting ready for Grandpa's arrival. And we hired a housekeeper, she will come out every other week and do the bathrooms and dusting and stuff we just can not get to. I told Mike to get a nice perky one because Grandpa will talk her ear off while she is dusting off all the TV sets.
Grandpa is so looking forword to Pala we are staying two nights, Sunday and Monday. We got the room free and we have a coupon for free buffet at Valley View. They have a great buffet. He told Mike he is sick of sitting there with the dogs, and getting my brothers phone calls. He is going to go to guest services and tell them his new address so he gets his coupons on time. We were not that thrilled with Stateline, you know Pala is his happy place. And he hasn't been there since October, this trip will a good one because he can relax, with no more worries.
Then we have moving day and NASCAR days. Grandpa will go to the races at least one day, and check things out. Shari is looking forword to seeing us, and some sunshine.

  3. Trisha- I didn't care for it much either to begin with, but now, never again.

Mom-I think that the movers will only go to one place so it would make sense to get everything into one central location. Do they know for sure they are going to Texas or is she just hopeful? I am so excited for Grandpa. It's going to be an exciting month!

  4. No she doesn't know that they will go to Texas but thats where she hopes to go. I thought it was a good idea to get a storage for her stuff. We have a storage and we have put our stuff and some of my dads stuff in there and now Sarah has added a few boxes. I thought it would be best to get a second unit and just have her put all her stuff together. She has managed to gather quite a bit of stuff, at least they will be able to cook and have a place to sit and watch TV.
I do not know if I would make Texas my first choice, but I guess it doesn't really matter it all depends on where the need is.

It is going to be a busy month thats for sure.

  5. Texas would certainly be my first choice. :)

It's going to be busy. We are going to need a good plan so we don't overlook something with all this moving about.

  6. Well Texas is a big state and like California depending on where in Texas you are the climate can be different.
I am open to ideas about how to get everything moved. We will need to have a plan, and pictures will be taken, since my dad is moving after 32 years. He needs to get some new activitys and be around people, and I have a few ideas for that.

  7. Well let the busy month begin. We are busy moving stuff around making room for my Dad his stuff and two more dogs. We are catching up with Helen and George in the beagle department. We will be moving on Saturday the 16th because the lady that bought it would like to move in asap. Sarah and I will be going on Monday to start packing up stuff.
The housekeeper will come on friday and she will be doing a bunch of stuff, the blinds and base boards, the fans and the bathrooms. That is going to be a great help, her Name is Linda and she will be comming out every other week to keep on top of things.
We will have the phone shut off and the directv as of monday. He wants to be able to have TV until he moves. There is a lot to remember the address change, renting a uhaul, and moving dogs. I think Abbie will be fine with her brothers, she might lose a couple pounds. I hope Mickey will get along with Hercules they are about the same size.
