Everyone got sick.
Catherine had it. She was in her room coughing and sniffling and falling asleep at 2:00 in the afternoon.
David had it. He was in bed coughing and blowing his nose feeling miserable for days.
I had it. Coughing for days. Endless tissues. Nyquil to the rescue.
Michelle had it. Snot running down her face, humidifier in her room constantly. Lots of wiping. Lots of naps. Lots of cuddles.
Somehow though, Carolynn is fine.
I want her immunity.

And I Am Not Even Blonde
It all started one Tuesday morning. I am always off on Tuesday and Wednesday. But our dog Drizella thinks that she needs to get up when the sun comes up.
No. Not on my day off. It's 6 am. She is whining to go out.
So I sit up to yell at her to shut up.
And the room is spinning. Whoa. I must have sat up too fast. So I lie back down to wait until it stops. I doze on and off until 9 am waiting until it stops. It never does. Eventually I try and get up to go pee. I fall onto the bed. David gets up to help me. It is awful. It's spinning and spinning....
So I call the midwives office. She thinks it may be anemia. She tells me to take an iron pill and drink some water. Then take a nap. I should feel better later she says.
I do what she says. I take the pill, I drink water, I sleep until noon.
And I feel a bit better. Still woozy, but at least I can walk. David takes me out for some tacos. I watch TV. And later than night...
It's back. The dizzy. So dizzy I throw up. And it continues all night and into Wednesday. So I call the midwives office again. Now maybe she thinks it is the flu or even just dehydration. She says get lots of rest, drink plenty of liquids. If I can't keep anything down for 24 hours, come in.
So I sleep. I drink. I finally keep down some toast. But the dizzy never stops. I wobble around the house. This continues...
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday...
Finally on Monday they run a bunch of tests.... No dehydration, no infections, no anemia... nothing...
The dizzy continued....
Tuesday, Wednesday...
Finally I go back to work on Thursday. Still a bit wobbly, but slowly getting better. By Saturday it was mostly gone.
Two weeks almost of being dizzy.
Why?
Who knows?
Just over a week until the due date.....

Joy To The World
These last two days at work have been brutal. BRUTAL! I am still battling this sickness. I am still getting used to the new schedule. I have been incredibly busy getting ready for the holiday. When I got home from work today, I went right to bed and slept for hours. David brought me tacos to make me feel better.
The best part is...
Now I have two whole days off. YAY!
*************************
So up to the house top the coursers they flew,
With a sleigh full of toys, and St. Nickolas too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch
On Tuesday night, I was feeling kind of sick. I stayed on the couch and refused to move for fear of the imminent tossing of my cookies. I went to bed early and I slept until 2 Wednesday afternoon. When I got up, I thought I was better. So I went to work, despite David's objections. (Who uses sick days for actual sick?) Of course, by 6 I felt like I'd been run over by a truck. I couldn't understand why I felt so tired. And no food sounded good. When I got off work at midnight, I went right to bed.
I had to get up early on Thursday. The girls had to be at school before 8:00 am. I felt okay. I went to the school. I bought a donut from Carolynn's class fundraiser. Then I came home and went right back to bed. I got up just in time to go to work. Against David's wishes....
Yesterday, I slept in and was really feeling better. So I made us a nice lunch of pasta and garlic bread. Then off to work I went.
Bad idea.
Even the inmates kept saying I didn't look too good. I was all flushed. It felt so hot in there. Inmates were all bundled up complaining of the cold. I felt like death. The thought of garlic bread was making me feel like I might have to see it again.
So today I finally said no, I am staying home and resting.
I still feel tired. All food still sounds like a bad idea. I had some toast.
Stupid.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name:
Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donder and Blitzen!

Sleeping On My Death Bed
On the day my sister arrived, I woke up with what I thought was a cold. My nose was stuffed. My throat was scratchy. I felt pretty gross.
I was so mad.
So I told that sickness to go away. I decided to exercise it out. I went to the park and walked a few miles. I loaded up on vitamins and orange juice. There was no way I was going to be sick when my sister was visiting. I had great day.
David brought me plenty of tissue and that night I took some TheraFlu and went to bed early. I was sure I won.
The next day, we went to the water park. I thought I felt better. But by the end of the day my head was so stuffed. David had to drive us home. I switched to Nyquil and went to bed. It was just a cold.
I went to work that Friday and Saturday. But by Saturday I was a mess. I couldn't stop coughing. I felt so bad for the coworker stuck in there with me. He has two small daughters and a pregnant wife. I spent a lot of the time wiping everything down with disinfectant wipes.
Finally, I gave up. I called in sick for Sunday. I figured a ton of Nyquill and vitamins and a lot of sleep was all I needed to finally beat this thing.
On Monday morning, I got up and went to work.
Bad idea. I was a mess still. They sent me home.
On Tuesday, I called in sick again. It was offical. I had bronchitis.
Sweet.
I slept all day Tuesday. Most of Wednesday. And parts of Thursday.
Here we are back to Sunday. I am at about 90%. Just a little cough and just a little stuffed. I still get tired easy. But I made it through a couple of days of work.
Next time I think I got a little cold I am just going to check my self into the hospital.

Like Death

Yesterday I was so sick. My head was pounding. I was hot. I was cold. My head was stuffed. I was tired. I was nauseous. It was awful. And I was at work. It was the worst day. I ended up coming home early and using an hour of my sick leave. I got some Theraflu. (It tasted so awful.) I got some Niquil. I got some tissues and I got some cough drops. I was drugged up good. Today I feel a lot better. I just have to make it through 1 more day of work and it’s two days off for me. Then I have to get some cleaning done before David’s mom comes next weekend.

The Best Laid Plans
Today was supposed to be a great day. Friends were coming and we were going to have a good time. The kids were going to have fun. It should have been super.
Too bad.
I worked 16 hours yesterday. I am tired. My stomach hurts. I have a headache. Then Trisha’s dog got sick on the way here and pooped all over her car. She didn’t want to leave the dogs home because they might escape or tear up the house. We have plenty of yard and her dogs are good travelers. So it should have been no problem. But the poor dog just pooped liquid disgust all over the car and on the other dog. The stench could make a buzzard cry. Not funny. (Okay, in a few weeks it will be hilarious.)
So instead of a nice fun day of catching up and hanging out, we got a tired and sick me, a stressed Trish, two stinky dogs, and two sullen teenagers. Super. We did have egg rolls, which were awesome. Our dogs didn’t get too crazy over having Trisha’s dogs here. That was good. But Trisha forgot the warmer I bought her from Nicole’s new business. She had a tough day. She looked pretty stressed.
Now I am relaxing. David made pizza. We watched some Desperate Housewives. We watched some old Simpson’s episodes. Maybe later we will watch some Glee. Now I am watching Lock Up. Tomorrow we are going to fund raiser for Allison’s cheer-leading. It will be at Applebee’s. I didn’t know Applebee’s did breakfast.
Well, anyway, I was really glad to see Trisha and her family. Sidney and Catherine had fun. Carolynn and Morgan might have liked each other better if they had interacted rather than just stand around looking at each other. We will see each other again. It’s not that far.

Tuesday Ramblings
Something happened today that never happened before. I went to work at 6am and I worked until 7am, then they sent me home. I wasn’t feeling well. I have been stressed out a bit lately trying to take care of some stuff… the broken car, Carolynn and her home school, work, bills… It’s been a lot to handle. I haven’t been sleeping well and I have had a sinus thing bugging me. I have had a stomach ache and I have this terrible toothache. I guess it all kind of just hit me at once. I was working, but I was spaced out and I just started crying for no reason when asked a question by a coworker. No one was mad, they just thought I was sick and they sent me home. I came back home and went back to bed. I slept all day off and on. I feel a little better.
Tomorrow I am going to the dentist. Hopefully that helps. I am going to spend some time going through the bills and getting things all taken care of. It’s not as bad as it seems. I know it. Carolynn is doing great at school and she is a much nicer person. The car is fixed. I just need to have it smogged and registered. Work is going good. One of my supervisors said I was doing a great job and that he would like to be able to pull me from my regular post to do some other stuff if I don’t mind. He said people have been saying good things about me. Another one said I was turning out to be an outstanding officer. My evaluations are always all positive. I just have to take care of some more paper work stuff and then I can try some more new stuff. I have just been avoiding the issue and scared I won’t be able to do it. I need to stop that.
I switched banks. Chase was charging me practically for everything and then making it difficult to use my own money. I went to a couple of local banks, checked some stuff online, and called and asked a bunch of questions. I finally decided on Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. So far, I like them. Their online banking is easy to use and they are friendly.
I have the next few days off. It will give me a chance to take care of all this stuff and catch up on some sleep. Plus visit the dentist and possibly the doctor. Things will get better.
Last night my sister in law Nicole had her first party for her new business. I think she did pretty well. I purchased one of her warmers for me and one for my friend Trisha to put in her new house when she gets here. Maybe I should have a party here to help her get started. The warmers are cute and not too expensive. There are a bunch of scents too. Check it out www.scentsy.net.
Okay, things are looking up. I know it. Think positive.

John, Paul, George, and Ringo
Yesterday I was too sick to go to work. You should never go to work sick. You should be mentally alert in a place like that.
However, I felt okay enough to go to the mall with the gang. We haven’t all gone to the same place at the same time in a long time. Since the Loser Cruiser is out of commission (until later this week) we all had to squeeze into the truck. It was not funny.
Anyway, we went and spent the day at the mall. Carolynn is officially un-grounded this weekend, so she was able to upgrade her phone. She got an LG Envy3. She seems to really like it. She and David each got new shoes. David hadn’t had new shoes in about 3 years. Carolynn just wears hers out fast. Carolynn also made her first visit to the Victoria’s Secret. That was difficult. My tiny little baby isn’t supposed to need bras. Catherine scored herself a new Pokemon thing. I got some bras of my own. (I know..TMI.) I also scored a Valentine’s present… The collector’s edition of The Beatles Rock Band. It has Ringo’s drums and Paul’s guitar and all the songs. We were playing it this afternoon and it is so awesome.
We went to Nick’s for dinner with Aunt Chris and some friends. It was so good. When we got home, the Olympics were starting.
I have to say, they replayed the tragic death of that Georgian luger a lot. It was very difficult to watch. The We Are The World remake was pretty good. But what was Justin Bieber doing in there? He looked so out of place. I am not a fan.
The opening ceremonies were kind of tedious. It was a long time into the show before they actually got down to it. It just wasn’t as cool as the openings of the summer Olympics. But it was nice and I stayed up and watched the whole thing.
Today, I have to be at work at 8. Then I have some groceries to buy. And some dinner to cook.

Sickening
I am feeling a bit better. I still have a cough. My voice sounds all graveling and strange. It makes me think of Phoebe on Friends. You know the one where she gets a cold and likes her voice.
I got home and found Catherine and David both asleep. Guess who else is sick? David was unable to go do his volunteer work today because he is sick. (He is achy, has a stuffy nose and a fever.) He ended up hang to go out anyway when Catherine’s school called and said she was barfing.
I now have the next three days off.
Thursday is Thanksgiving. We are planning to spend it with some friends. I haven’t spent a Thanksgiving anywhere but home since 2000. It should be a super fun time. The only thing we thought of… no leftovers. But then I figured, not necessarily. Who says Thursday is the only day to make a turkey dinner? Maybe I will cook one tomorrow… or Wednesday… or next week some time. Who knows? The point of Thanksgiving is not the food, but the company.
Well, that is it for today. It is Monday. Nothing much to say.

Some Good, Some Bad
Well, the bad news… we ended up getting hit with a bunch of overdraft fees for the bills that came out Saturday when I thought I would get paid. It really blows. But there was nothing I could do. I tried talking to the bank, but banks are cold, heartless organizations. The good news… The TV company decided I didn’t have to drive my TV all the way to Yucaipa to have it repaired. They arranged for us to return it to Wal-Mart and get a new one. David and Carolynn are out on that mission as I type.
I am off today and tomorrow. I am using that time to recover. I thought I was just coming down with a cold, but it kept getting worse. My chest hurt and was coughing and coughing. It got to the point that I actually called the doctor. If you know me, you know I HATE going to the doctor. But I couldn’t breathe right and I could barely go two minutes without hacking up a lung. I really had little option. So today at 2:00 I went to Dr. Sawan’s office. He is a very nice guy. He said I have a mild bronchitis and gave me a prescription. I picked up cough syrup and cough drops while I was at the pharmacy too. I will be fine in a day or so.
Anyway, I mentioned that last weekend, and the weekend before, I spent time having game nights with friends. I also mentioned that earlier this week I got a new Scene It game. So why not put them together and have people over here for game night this week? Is anyone interested? I promise not to cough on you. Should we do it tomorrow night, Friday night? Or should we do it Saturday night? We got the new 80’s Scene It, plus we have 2 Xbox Scene it games. We will have snacks and it will be fun. So who’s coming? Let me know what day works so we can get it planned! I am sure it will make me feel better. Get back to me soon… via Facebook or Twitter or text, or you know, call. (I know, that last one was a novel idea wasn’t it?)
So that is about it today people. Let’s get this game night started!

Sick
Today I was sick and all I ate was graham crackers that my mom got at the store. She went for hamburger buns and she bought this too. And then I took a hot bath and I felt better.

Only 3 Weeks Until Christmas!
We have been putting up our Christmas decorations. David did the outside lights. The girls decorated the tree and I put some stuff around the house. It’s just not Christmas until there is a sexy leg lamp in the window.

Another Christmas Story... look at that sexy leg! Woo Hoo!!

Tuesday, I did something I have never done before. I called in sick to work. I was feeling really sick. It felt weird being home from work when it was still open. It was nice knowing that though I was sick, I would not lose a days pay.
Speaking of work, guess who got a job???? Oh yes, it is David. He is now an employee of PetsMart. He started yesterday.
Yesterday, while David was enjoying his first day on his new job, the girls and I did a lot of running around. First, we dropped off David at the PetsMart. Then we went over to the Kohl’s and got some new clothes for the girls. Check out this video of Catherine in her new snowman sweats. (This video is a new technology for us and this video is just a trial thing I made, so please excuse the horribleness of it.)
After the Kohl’s, we ate breakfast at Denny’s. Then we went to the Target to get some Christmas shopping done. After that we got gas and toy cars at the Chevron and groceries at the Albertson’s. Then we came home. We did some cleaning, put the groceries away and listened to some Christmas music. Then we went to the PetsMart to do some shopping and pick up David. On our way, we stopped at Wal-Mart to buy a jar for our Christmas candy. The girls picked out some toys there to give to the Marines collecting Toys For Tots out front. Then we shopped PetsMart. We got a box of presents for our dog, Elvis, and for his brothers and Hercules too. (His brothers and Hercules are my mom’s dogs and our dog Elvis lives with them.) We got some stuff for Kitty too. Then we got some dinner at the Mc Donald’s, or as Catherine says, “Mick-A-Dees”. Then we went to church. After that, when it was late, back to the Wal-Mart I went, without the kids, and did a little Christmas shopping of my own. I like that the Wal-Mart is open 24 hours now. That is the only way to beat the crowds there.
Today we have been cleaning and baking cookies. We have made gingersnaps, chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter cookies so far. We have plans to make snickerdoodles and sugar cookies too. Maybe we will make those next weekend. I have great cookie cutters. They belong to my grandma and my dad used to cut cookies with them when he was a little boy. Now my kids can cut cookies with them.
Finally, someone, I won’t name any names or point any fingers, but someone has mentioned that they thought I might have turned into a religious fanatic or something because we started going to church. That is not true. I am just as religious now as I ever was and I still pretty much feel the same about most organized churches. However, later this week I will explain about the one we have been going to and the reason behind it. I will not do it today though. This is long enough already.

I found this video in my camera. I do not know where it came from. It's a mystery. |
